M’sian Girl Band DOLLA Is The 3rd Local Artiste That’s Featured On New York’s Times Square Billboard

The latest Malaysian artiste to take over the iconic Times Square billboard, in New York City is none other than the Malaysian girl band, DOLLA.

The four-member band which consists of Sabronzo, Tabby, Angel, and Syasya were chosen to be part of Spotify’s Equal Singapore and Malaysia campaign. The Equal campaign is a global programme that aims to foster and nurture equity for women in audio by highlighting female artistes around the world.

Formed in 2019, DOLLA was created after an audition and the group members did not even know each other beforehand! The group is currently signed to Universal Music Malaysia and has captivated listeners with hits such as “Dolla Makes You Wanna” and Impikan.

The girl band is the third Malaysian artiste to be featured on a Times Square billboard in New York, USA after Yuna’s first feature back in July 2019 and Layla Sania in July 2021.

According to The Star, Sabronzo who is one of the members said that “Words just cannot express how we feel right now. This is such a huge honour for a newly formed vocal group like us and we hope we can continue to live up to the expectations of our fans.”

 

Fans ecstatic over the news

Upon the news of the billboard sighting, fans rushed to social media platforms to express their joy and sense of pride for the girl band.

It even led to the hashtag #DollaMakeMalaysiaProud to trend on Malaysia’s Twitter.

One fan even pointed out that a fake hopeful billboard that was created last year has now turned into reality.
