Some businessmen believe that customers are King and the “mantra” reflects how important the consumers are to their respective businesses. However, is a customer still the King when the requests are proven to be too much or in this case, almost impossible?
In a few screenshots shared by Malaysian, Henry Toh in the Facebook group 蒲种大新闻(Puchong News Group), a baker received honest feedback from his customer who said “Your chocolate cake didn’t taste good.”
Out of curiosity and intending to improve, the baker asked further, to which the customer said,
“My kids said the chocolate taste was too strong and bitter. Did you use cheap ingredients?”
The customer had ordered an alcohol-infused chocolate cake. The baker then explained to the customer about the strong taste of the chocolate and said it was real cocoa.
“The chocolate cost me RM60++ for 1 KG. It has 63% of cocoa, so if you think it’s cheap ingredients, I don’t know how to explain to you.”
The customer continued to complain and this time, she said that “it tasted like alcohol and the kids didn’t like it,” before asking for a refund after they had eaten the cake.
Of course, the baker is NOT going to refund something that had been digested, and expectedly, the customer was not happy about it and she wanted to lodge a police report.
“So, it looks like I am only getting my refund if I make a police report!”
Instead of trying to negotiate with the customer and persuade her NOT to go on with the report, the baker had his way to “chase away” the customer.
He sent her lengthy texts of the Buddhist prayers in words!
“Why are you sending me these? I’m a Christian!” the customer said, to which the baker had an even hilarious response which you can see in the picture below.
He replied with an image of actor Anthony Hopkins as a priest holding a cross performing an exorcism, and the conversation ended there.
It’s just another day as a retailer to get feedback from customers but to those who are dealing with customers on a daily basis, have you ever dealt with something this bizarre?
