Being trapped in a lift can be scary even for adults. Imagine having to sit in a closed space, suspended between floors, with no way to communicate or call for help. And the thought of a child experiencing such a situation is unimaginable.
In a recent video uploaded by @its_meell21, she shares an incident involving a child who was trapped in a lift at a mall in Damansara on June 23.
The child was trapped all alone in the lift
In the video, the mother of the trapped child can be seen comforting her daughter through a small gap in the lift door. She passed a drink to her daughter and tried to calm her down as she was crying.
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Ell, who was present during the incident, shared information gathered from others who were also there at the time. She revealed how the child had allegedly entered the lift 1st, and just as her father was about to enter, the door abruptly closed.
The father held on to the lift door to keep it from closing
Ell continued to explain that as the door closed on the father, it caught his leg, prompting him to use his hand to prevent it from closing completely, leaving his daughter alone inside.
By then, the lift had already malfunctioned because even the button to open or close the door weren’t working. The father held onto the door until security arrived with a metal object to keep the lift door open.
They managed to get the door open and the girl is safe!
Ell described how they waited for about 30 minutes without receiving a clear response from the management, and even the security team was unsure how to proceed.
She mentioned that both the security guard and the father attempted to open the lift door without success, leading them to eventually call the fire department.
They eventually managed to open the lift door, and the girl is safe.
“Everyone should be more cautious, as not all lifts are equipped with sensors. The girl’s parents did their best, but unfortunately, incidents like this are sometimes unavoidable,” said Ell.
