The effect of Taylor Swift’s concert not only boosts the local economy but also benefits some businesses in Malaysia, such as bus operator Amirul Sufi. This concert allowed his company to earn RM30,000 in revenue in just 1 day!

In an interview with the radio station BFM89.9, Amirul said he founded his company with a capital of RM10,000. His company specialises in providing pick-up and drop-off services for Malaysian fans during concerts, from Penang, Johor, and other places.

With many Malaysians flocking to Singapore for The Eras Tour, Amirul was not going the let the chance slip.

With about 3 trips a day, Amirul revealed that he can earn at least RM25,000 in a day. Taylor Swift performed in Singapore for multiple days, and if you can do the simple estimation, Amirul seemed to make a lot by just sending concertgoers to the Eras Tour.

“The concerts will bring a lot of benefits to many fields, including tourism sector and bus operator like myself. Even though the concert was held in Singapore and boosted Singapore’s economy, my friends and I benefited from it too.”

Although the daily income can go up to RM30,000, the profit is approximately RM4,000 to Rm5,000 after deducting other costs. Here’s the rough breakdown for the Eras Tour.

“The cost of 1 bus transportation service is about RM4,000, and 3 buses require RM12,000, including gasoline fees, driver salary, bus maintenance fees, etc.”

To Amirul, it’s not just about picking up and dropping them off. His job description includes solving possible problems for the customers.

“I have to make sure that the customers are happy with the services and solve the problems they encounter, such as immigration issues, where to change clothes, where to eat.”

We wish Amirul the best of luck in his business! The heat of the fever for The Eras Tour is still going strong, do share with us your experience at the show!
