As students across Malaysia gear up and make their way back to school for a new term, many teachers are eager to see just how their students will tackle new challenges this school year. However, one Malaysian art teacher at a school in Kuala Lumpur decided to go the extra mile in welcoming his students back, by creating a surprise that is truly unmatched.
Malaysian teacher and content creator Cikgu Dipi has been known for creating numerous works of art and murals on his TikTok page @cikgudipi. His latest creation, though, is garnering massive attention after he created a colourful and magnificent mural on the floor of the school grounds.
Sharing his effort in a brief clip, Cikgu Dipi displayed how he managed to sketch, paint, and layer his artwork on the ground. At the beginning, Cikgu Dipi laid out a divider on the floor, to ascertain where the mural would start and end. Shortly after that, he and his fellow teachers got to work by painting a white coat on the ground to act as a base for the rest of his work.
After that, Cikgu Dipi proceeded to draw what was visually meant to be a boat riding through a stream. Adding precise detail to his piece, Cikgu Dipi also added drawings of buoys, a dolphin, trees, and a pond. The entire journey mapped out cognitive exercises for the kids to partake in along their walk, such as mathematics equations and physical actions such as clapping or whistling.
Here’s what the complete mural looks like:
In a brief conversation with WORLD OF BUZZ, Cikgu Dipi said that the idea initially came from teachers leading the Highly Immersive Programme (HIP) dan Dual Language Programme (DLP), in an effort to create a mural that was both informative and interactive for students once they return to school.
“I created the design myself and had it visualised with information to make it interactive for the kids. Primarily, I worked on it, but I had assistance from a few practical teachers in the process,” said Cikgu Dipi to WORLD OF BUZZ.
Garnering a massive response online, many individuals were in awe over the effort exercised by Cikgu Dipi and his colleagues, all to create something immaculate and artistic for their students to adore once they return for classes. Some even said that the design was so beautiful that they’d rather walk on the grass beside it than step on the artwork.
“Teachers nowadays are the best. They go to such lengths of creativity just to celebrate their kids!” complimented one user.
Another user also asked how Cikgu Dipi intended to keep the mural on the ground for an extended period, saying that the continuation of children stepping on these designs may make it fade over time.
Responding to the comment, Cikgu Dipi stated, as he showed in the video itself, that painting clear finishing over the artwork multiple times will aid in its long-term maintenance.
