The job of a teacher can often be one of the most taxing professions. From educating the youth to ensuring their proper path in the world of academia, most teachers extend this responsibility far beyond the confines of school.

A recent TikTok video has been making waves online after a teacher from a school in Kelantan named Cikgu Halim shared an initiative him and his fellow educators do for their primary school students. In the clip posted to his account @cikguoffroad, Cikgu Halim and other teachers can be seen washing the hair of their students on school grounds.

Combing their hair and adding a wet substance to it, each educator has a designated role to fulfil in caring for each child. At a later point in the video, it is revealed that the teachers were applying special shampoos to the kids’ hair to rid them of ticks.

Some teachers are also seen picking ticks off their student’s heads, all while using gloves.

“Cleanliness is necessary. I am just sharing the tale of teachers that not everyone knows about. There are some who teachers who are mocked, others who are complimented. But our tasks do not just include teaching them, but accepting them as though they are our children.

“All teachers are like this. From the second they walk into the school, we feel proud because this is everything to them. Therefore, this is the tale of us in the outskirts. We don’t dance, we don’t jump around. We do what is necessary,” wrote Cikgu Halim in the caption of his post.

In a brief conversation with WORLD OF BUZZ, Cikgu Halim revealed that the school is located in Gua Musang, Kelantan, and is considered one of the most rural schools in the state, located in a wilderness on the border of Kelantan and Perak.

Providing insight into the video, the teacher stated that this task is a routine staff members carry out in their spare time to teach the kids about cleanliness and hygiene.

“Here, we treat our students like our own children because plenty of them come here very young and live in the school’s hostel. Maybe they don’t have these facilities at home, but since we have them in the school, we don’t see the harm to extend charity to them. They also enjoy doing this,” said the educator to WORLD OF BUZZ.

Closing his thoughts, Cikgu Halim stated that his duty is purely to work together with other staff members to ensure the kids at their school are always in a good and healthy state, thereby giving them the energy to come to school.

Sharing their own personal instances, multiple commenters spoke about how they experienced similar situations when they were in school too, though some recalled these memories with their parents and neighbours instead.

“Tick medicine! Brings me back to my primary school days,” commented one user.

Nevertheless, the vast majority of commenters praised the teachers for going above and beyond their duties, sacrificing time and energy for the security of their students.

“I get emotional when I see this. May teachers always be filled with divine blessings, always,” wrote another user.

Kebersihan sangat perlu.Aku cuma kongsi kisah guru-guru yang bukan semua orang tahu. Ada yang mengeji ada yang memuji.Namun tugas kami bukan sekadar mendidik tetapi menyantuni mereka seperti anak kami sendiri.Semua guru begini. Begitulah. #cikgutiktok #gurupedalaman #sekolahpedalaman #muridorangasli #orangaslitemiar #cikgusekolah #sekolahkurumahku #amanahkami
