A Malaysian content creator was THIS CLOSE to losing her life, if not for a burning smell which saved her life, as well as her family.

On her Facebook post, the woman, Ah Lee said that a burning smell in her living room caught her attention recently, and after making a few rounds around her house, the smell came from a burning adapter! Aside from the adapter, the plug for a standing fan and the aquarium was also connected to the same extension plug.

“I immediately pulled off the plug and I couldn’t help but wonder, if this happened at midnight when everyone was asleep, we would have been burnt like roasted pigs.”

That night, Ah Lee’s mind wandered to a lot of places, including the past which reminded her of a classmate who died after inhaling too much smoke from the fire.

“The storage at the lower level caught on fire, he was stuck on the level above. He died from suffocation.”

After the burning adapter incident, Ah Lee immediately reminded her kids about what to do if a fire broke out, regardless of where they were. Ah Lee is generous enough to share the tips on her post and perhaps we can benefit from the survival skills too!

  • Stay calm and don’t hesitate TO RUN!
  • Fire spreads wildly and quickly, so don’t turn back to take anything.
  • If you’re stuck on the level above, run to the washroom. Find a wet cloth and cover your mouth and nose with it.
  • If you’re stuck in the bedroom, cover the bottom of the door with a blanket or bedsheet.

Last but not least. and only do this if you’re desperate.

“If you must risk it, cover yourself with a wet blanket and go through the fire.”

Ah Lee also said that she hopes all parents can spread these tips to their children for the sake of their safety.

“Of course, these are not the only ways. I hope you guys can share your tips too. These tips are important for your children, more important than the maths formula.”

We can’t even imagine if no one could smell the burnt adapter. Feel free to share with your survival tips!
