Let’s put the huge mess of politics aside. Without them, Malaysians are actually united under most circumstances, and the unity is the strongest when we’re all excited to celebrate Malaysia’s birthday.

In a TikTok post by @deleosem, a Malaysian from Sabah, Darrel recently took the MRT during Merdeka Day and in what is usually a quiet train ride, the serenity was “interrupted” by a group of Malaysians who wanted to express their love towards the country. In the clip, the group of people proudly sang Tanggal 31 by the late Sudirman as a celebration for Malaysia’s 66th birthday.

It was a lovely “interruption”, we must say. 1 of the train singers also had the national flag – Jalur Gemilang placed on his shoulders. Like a scene from a Bollywood movie, some of the train users started to sing along while others recorded the historic and heartwarming moment. Everyone put a smile on their face when the singing started to get louder.

See? Malaysians indeed united when they need to be. It may not be as hectic as a concert but this experience is priceless, and it’s not something you get to see every day during a train ride or anywhere else.

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Darrel said he also joined the crowd by participating in the quick singing.

“I sang along with them. It was fun!”

Darrel also told WORLD OF BUZZ that he was headed to Bandar Utama at the time, and he was unsure if the group of people were headed to Dataran Merdeka for the parade.

“Make this a trend”

Regardless of where they were headed, Malaysian netizens were amused to see how the train users were united in singing the patriotic song when it was not a drill.

“I regret for not taking the MRT today.”

“Malaysians are so cute.”

“This is what we want – harmony among all. No fights, no insults.”

“Make this a trend.”

You can watch the viral clip below and since we’re still in Merdeka mode, you can at least hum along with them!
