A student from China recently met her demise after suffering from emotional wreckage following her encounter with scammers who convinced her that she was a murder suspect of an old woman.
The 20-year-old student had just arrived in Malaysia in less than two weeks, and she fell from the 39th floor of her condominium in Selangor as she was unable to cope with the anxiety after the fake police told her that she was being monitored 24/7 as long as she did not pay RM150K.
The student’s mother, in an interview with China Press, revealed that if she could change things, she wouldn’t have allowed her daughter to travel to Malaysia.
“I regretted allowing her to come to Malaysia to study. If I could turn back time, I wouldn’t have allowed her to come to Malaysia.”

The mum told China Press that she initially allowed her daughter to travel overseas because it would help her academically, which would ease her job-hunting process in the future.
“Nothing is more important than her life. I would rather she lived a normal life, but everything is too late now.”

Before her death, the student managed to write her mum a letter, asking for money without disclosing the details, as “she had signed a confidential agreement”.
The mum knew right away that her daughter was scammed and tried to contact her on March 22 but to no avail. The letter became her daughter’s last words, and she was found dead on March 23.
The scam syndicate told the student that if the money was not paid, she would be extradited to China for a prison term.
The student’s father also hopes the authorities in Malaysia will look into the matter and bring justice to his daughter.
