Mat Rempit or illegal street racers are unfortunately quite common on our roads, with a majority of Malaysians finding their activities a nuisance or worse, endangering themselves and other road users.

In fact, videos of motorcyclists doing dangerous stunts on the road are almost always posted on social media and that’s also the case for this recent viral video.

Rempit 1

Shared by the Inforoadblock Facebook page, the video shows a mat rempit doing a ‘wheelie’ on his motorcycle but absolutely failing as he loses balance midway through and crashes to the ground.

The 19-second video was recorded from a dashcam of the car that was behind the man, who was riding alongside his friend. The location of the incident was never disclosed in the post.

In the video, the man out of nowhere decided to do a wheelie on the empty road. While the attempt was successful at first, the mat rempit’s technique was a little bit off as the motorcycle’s front side was a bit too elevated to remain balanced.

He then crashed the motorcycle to the ground on the empty road but thankfully, the man didn’t suffer any visible injuries as he straightaway got up and picked up his vehicle.

As the car was driving past him, the driver can be heard saying ‘sempoi’ to the mat rempit in a mocking tone for the failed wheelie attempt.

In the video’s comments section, many netizens made fun of the mat rempit for his decision to endanger himself by performing the stunt.

One commenter said that the man’s action is the definition of ‘searching for pain’. Meanwhile, another commenter said that the hurt to the man’s ego was more than the pain caused by the crash.
