The Covid-19 situation in Malaysia is a growing concern as there are more cases piling up each day. Knowing this, Maybank has taken some proactive measures to help out people who are affected by Covid-19.
Awani reported that Maybank will be offering financial relief that includes restructuring and rescheduling of financing for their customers who are affected by the Covid-19 outbreak.
Other than that, they are also offering a moratorium (a legal authorisation to debtors to postpone payment) on loan repayments for up to six months.
The Maybank Group President & Chief Executive Officer said,
“This initiative will be introduced to business and SME partners as well as towards customers affected by Covid-19 and it will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
The company understands that this outbreak came suddenly and affected individuals and customers from multiple industries. Hence we hope that this financial relief that we offer will be able to help them out even by a little.”
According to the CEO, affected customers can call the Maybank hotline to enquire on the financial relief and also to reach a solution on any financial problems they might be facing.
“Should the situation persist, the bank will consider the possibility of extending the moratorium and financial relief for a longer period, ” he added.
He continues and touches on Etiqa, the insurance offered by the bank and says that Etiqa will be providing hospital coverage to their life insurance and family takaful policyholders who are infected with Covid-19.
This is definitely a very understanding move on Maybank’s side! Other than that, we hope that all Malaysians will abide by the Movement Control Order guidelines given by the government to help curb the spread of Covid-19. If you are unclear about the order then you can call the hotline @ 03-88882010.
