Man With 20 Criminal Records Arrested In Cheras After Breaking Car Windshield To Steal
A man was arrested by the police after he was caught breaking a car window to steal. The incident took place near Dataran C180, Cheras, yesterday night (10 January).
According to Harian Metro, Kajang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaid Hassan said that they first received a report from a 25-year-old local man who informed that his left windshield was broken at 10.30pm.
“Acting on information from the public, a team of officers from the Bandar Tun Hussein Onn Police Station arrested a local man at the location with the help of the public who were also at the scene at 12.30 midnight,” he said.
“Based on the investigation conducted, it is found that the 46-year-old suspect has 20 criminal records, including cases of breaking car windows and theft,” he explained.
Mohd Zaid also said that his party will be conducting further investigation according to Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft.
According to Mohd Zaid, if the suspect is convicted, he may be sentenced to a maximum of seven years imprisonment or a fine or a combination of both for his first offence. For his second offence, he can be jailed and fined, and whipped.
