Many of us could only wish to go back to our respective hometowns during this festive season. However, many have their applications denied while others take extra measures by using excuses such as delivering goodies or sending clothes.

This man, however, came up with the unthinkable by posing as a former ACP with a “Datuk” title to apply for interstate travel.

According to Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Mohamad Fakhruddin Abdul Hamid, the arrest was made at 9pm on Saturday (8 May) at the District Police Headquarters.

Popo Resized

The police chief told BERNAMA that the man showed a photograph of him in full police attire on his phone when he was making the application.

“When asked by the police, he failed to produce documentary evidence to back his claim of being a former senior police officer,” he added.

The 65-year-old was remanded for a day for investigation under Section 170 of the Penal Code for impersonating a public servant.

Is now really the time for us to be coming up with excuses to travel when the daily cases are still well over the thousands?
