Fighter kitesĀ
Kites with glass-coated strings are known as fighter kites and are often used to cut down other kites as a competitive challenge. This form of kite is said to be popular in Asia.
According to Wind Warrior, some kite fighters have even used metal blades on their kite strings to cut the lines of their competitors’ kites, which is considered highly dangerous and not recommended.
Prior to this, in 2019, now-Lahad Datu District Deputy Police Chief, Superintendent Jimmy Panyau, urged the public to avoid using glass strings on their kites to prevent injuries to the kite-flier and members of the public.
