If you’re bored of making Dalgona coffee or TikTok videos while being quarantined at home during the movement control order, here’s something new that you could try out!
Malaysian Mee Ho Chew shared on Facebook how she grew her very own bean sprouts – or as we like to call it – taugeh! She even provided a simple step-by-step guide on how to do it which only takes five days.
Here’s what you need:
- Green beans
- An empty plastic bottle
- A piece of gauze
And here are the steps:
- Put the green beans in the bottle and soak it in water for six hours
- Pour the water out and place a gauze over the opening of the bottle
- Avoid exposing the bottle to sunlight by covering the bottle up
- Water the green beans again at night and pour the excess water out
Chew shares that you have to water the beans three times a day with cold water for six days. After one day, you will begin to see the outer shell of the beans start to crack and the beats start to sprout.
Day one
Day two
Day three
Day four
By day five, the bean sprouts will be ready for harvest and ready to be consumed!
Chew harvested 600g of bean sprouts with one-and-a-half spoonful of green beans at the end of five days.
Her post has since garnered 11,000 shares and 1,300 comments at the time of writing.
