Recently, a popular tuition teacher, Sir Uzairi Taib, received backlash from the public after a video of him asking his students to call himself ‘Daddy’ went viral on social media.

Uzairi, who is known for using entertaining teaching techniques to educate students, took to Twitter today (9 December) to issue a public apology, adding that he will be resigning from his position as a tuition teacher.

He wrote in his Twitter post:

“We are supposed to be educators, but it seems this time around I am the one who have something to learn.”

He added saying, “As an educator, I am fully aware of the code of ethics I must observe and of the best interest of all my students of whom I hold to the highest standard. Due to my personal negligence, what may have begun as a casual joke turns out to be something very serious.”

He then apologised for his behaviour saying:

“From the bottom of my heart, I truly apologise for saying the wrong words. I learn from this experience and I have decided to take a break to reflect fully on myself due to this incident. My actions are mine and mine alone.”

He ended his Twitter thread by revealing that he has tendered his resignation from MCplus online tuition.

“Therefore, I am tendering my resignation from @mcplus_my effective immediately. i am fully prepared to face the consequences as a result of this unfortunate event.”
