Malaysian Comedian Arrested by PDRM After a Woman in Her 20s Accused Him of Rape

A comedian who is also a former contestant in a local comedy reality show was arrested by police on charges of raping a woman in her 20s in Johor Bahru.

In a report by Kosmo, the arrest was made this morning (November 28). The male suspect, who is believed to be in his 40s, was arrested in the Johor Bahru City area after a report was filed by the victim. The matter was confirmed by the Johor Bahru South District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat.

The suspect is currently under remand for five days, starting today until December 2, to assist with the investigation.

This case is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code, which pertains to the offence of rape. The identity of said comedian however was not revealed by the police.

If convicted, the suspect could face up to 20 years in prison and caning.

The remand order for the suspect was issued by the Senior Assistant Registrar of the Johor Bahru Magistrate’s Court, Muhammad Fitri Mokhtar, to ensure the investigation proceeds smoothly.

The police also urged the public not to come up with any speculations while they investigate the matter.
