Deepavali has always been a celebration best experienced up close, from warm flickers of oil lamps to the rustle of new silk, and the patient hands that trace a kolam at the entrance of the home. It is a season of colour, light and togetherness.
This year, Sunway Pyramid celebrates the Festival of Lights with “Colours of Light”, inviting visitors to go beyond admiring festive décor and experience the culture behind it.
A grand celebration of colours

From now onwards, Sunway Pyramid’s grand foyer will be a spectacle of radiant colours, glowing lights, traditional artistry and cultural experiences. It’s a reflection of how different colours, traditions and people come together during Deepavali in a shared spirit of happiness, unity and connection.
At the heart of the celebration is a kolam created live at the Grand Foyer. Rather than unveiling a finished piece, Sunway Pyramid invited shoppers to watch the kolam take shape over six hours on 15 October, as artist K Kobi Kanasan laid down each line, curve and layer of colour by hand. The live showcase offered an unhurried look at the time, precision and artistry behind this traditional decorative art form, long drawn at the thresholds of homes to welcome guests and blessings.
The kolam reached its final form today at the official launch of Sunway Pyramid’s Deepavali campaign, where Jessica Teng, Senior Manager of Marketing at Sunway Malls Selangor, added its last element. As the final touch was placed, the kolam illuminated to mark the celebration of Deepavali at Sunway Pyramid. The moment was followed by a cultural performance, and the illuminated kolam will remain at the Grand Foyer as the campaign’s festive centrepiece throughout the season.

“Deepavali is a meaningful celebration of light which can often represent hope and togetherness. We hope our centrepiece kolam and the activities we have curated create a deeper appreciation of traditional art and genuine experience of warmth through community,” said Mr Jason Chin, Chief Executive Officer of Sunway Malls Selangor.
Visitors can take that invitation a step further at the Grand Foyer, where a traditional-costume experience lets shoppers dress in traditional Indian attire and photograph the occasion. Whether trying it on for the first time or revisiting a familiar tradition, the experience offers a hands-on way to discover the craftsmanship and meaning woven into each outfit.
Light up your weekend with promos, workshops & more

On selected weekends, cultural performances will bring the energy, movement and rhythm of Deepavali to the mall, adding a musical dimension to “Colours of Light.”
Shoppers can also get hands-on at LUSH bath bomb-making workshops, part of the weekend programme for those looking to create something of their own this festive season. Over at the Sunway Lagoon Mart booth, festive favourites such as murukku and kacang putih sit alongside an array of snacks. For those feeling peckish, Mantra Indian Cuisine will be serving a spread of Indian delicacies at its booth.
As festive meals bring families and friends together, Sunway Pyramid has partnered with Jasmine for this year’s festive redemption programme. Shoppers who spend a minimum of RM350 in two same-day receipts can redeem a GODIVA Chocolate Gold Gift Box and a Jasmine PusaCream Basmathi Rice (Parboiled) 400g; a nod to the dishes shared at the heart of every Deepavali gathering.
