Previously, we shared several studies related to Malaysia which ranked our country favourably on several metrics, including how Malaysia is the 10th best country in the world for startups, the 6th most prosperous Asian nation and the 4th highest median salary in Southeast Asia.
Well, we can now add another 1 to the list, as a recent study by the finance website Insider Monkey just named Malaysia as the most loved country in Asia!
The study considered 5 separate metrics to find out Asia’s most loved nation
Insider Monkey elaborated that it consulted 5 previous studies it had published that ranked Asian nations in various metrics in order to get a definitive ranking in this “most loved” category.
Accordingly, the finance website looked at its list of the 15 Most Respected Countries in Asia, 15 Friendliest Countries in Asia, 20 most visited countries in Asia, 20 Most Diverse Countries in Asia, and 20 Most Democratic Countries in Asia, and assigned each of these 5 metric weights.
Specifically, 75% weight was assigned to the 1st 3, while 25% was allotted to the last 2.
Malaysia is the most loved country in Asia!
For reference, in the respect metric, Malaysia ranked 8th, 5th in the visited rank, 2nd in the friendliness rank, 14th in diversity and 6th in democracy rank.
Going through this methodology, Insider Monkey found that Malaysia is the most loved country in Asia, with an overall score of 0.701.
Insider Monkey further noted that people head to Malaysia to not just get an experience of our stunning beaches and posh city life, but also to explore the local culture and tradition, which is enriched by hospitable and friendly locals.

- Malaysia – 0.701 score
- Taiwan – 0.595 score
- Singapore – 0.593 score
- Japan – 0.553 score
- United Arab Emirates – 0.520 score
