There are lots of safety precautions we need to follow when filling up petrol.
Firstly, we have to remember to turn off our vehicle’s engines. We have to keep all cellphones, lighters, and fire far away too. Yup, no lighting up at the pump. As for motorcycles, we must not be seated on top while filling up with petrol.
So this was definitely a freak accident when a lorry suddenly moved on its own and rammed into a person at a petrol station!
Fazrin FA shared two videos of the accident that took place at about 6.35PM on January 16, 2017 at Jalan Samarahan, Sarawak.
From the first video, the lorry can be seen parked at one of the petrol dispensers. The door of the vehicle was still opened but all of a sudden, it started up and swerved to the left, out of control.
It moved towards a petrol dispenser on the opposite side where a few men were pumping petrol into their vehicles. Unfortunately, the vehicle rammed against one of the five men.
The truck completely took out the whole petrol dispenser.
The man clad in a yellow shirt stumbled backwards but did not seem to sustain any major injuries as he could still stand up after.
The lorry did not seem to be pumping petrol when it went berserk.
The freakiest part of this incident was that there seemed to be no one in the driver’s seat initially. But after the impact was made, a man suddenly appeared in the driver’s seat.
Perhaps he was reaching for something and accidentally stepped on the gas pedal?
The videos went viral with a total of over 1.8 million views. Many netizens were worried about the condition of the man who got knocked while others were freaking out about such an accident.
“Adui. Thankfully the yellow shirt one is alright. Kesian.”
“Wah, like that also can?!”
“What is wrong with the lorry driver?!”
Indeed, it was a freaky incident that could have ended with the death of an innocent passer-by. It is best to always ensure that you are aware of what is going on in your vehicle.
