Taking to Twitter, a netizen shared how a loan shark met his match when he was confronted by a group of people wanting to help a loan shark victim settle his pending debt.
The video which garnered more than 500k views, was coupled with the caption, “This is how loan sharks operate. You borrowed RM1,500 and paid RM4,000, yet they still want RM12,000 in payment.”
With the man in black leading most of the discussion, the loan shark could not say much as he was surrounded by people who were with the man dressed in black.
“Who gave you the right to enter his home and take his stuff away?”
“Did he not pay his loan to you? What gives you the right,” they were heard saying.
Left netizens divided
Adding that people should steer clear of loan sharks, netizens were divided.
One netizen shared that Malaysia does not need this form of vigilante justice.
“If you really want to help, negotiate the rates, take over their loans, pay up with your own money, and ensure those victims do not repeat it in the future,” wrote the user.
Others were more apologetic to the victim. This netizen adds that even those who are licensed maintain their ‘loan shark’ attitude.
“Those who possess money-lending licenses are still loan sharks.”
“A friend who loaned from these so-called licensed money lenders was made to surrender their debit card with their pin numbers too,” they added.
