It’s been a while since we’ve seen politicians putting themselves in the shoes of regular folks.

Though, even in the effort of trying to be relatable with the people, many of these politicians still have advantages that regular folks don’t have.

For instance, the MRT Corp Twitter page recently shared how Deputy Prime Minister Zahid Hamidi and his family had taken a ride on the MRT on Saturday (February 10).

They wrote, “Today, Deputy Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi took a ride on the MRT train with his family to the TRX MRT Station.”

In the video, Zahid Hamidi could be seen with his family as they made their way through the MRT station, into the train towards the very front. They took pictures and waved at people, all while they were escorted through out the entire journey.

This left a sour impression among the people as they feel like Zahid Hamidi and his family treated their tedious daily commute process like some sort of VIP vacation activity.

“The best, getting VVIP treatment. There’s no need to elbow and push for a place in the carriage, not to mention they got the one in the very front. Can ordinary folks subscribe to this service?”

Dpm 3

“Isn’t it great being a part of the elites, riding on the MRT like tourists. This is once in a lifetime for them. After all, because being a minister means he gets a transportation allowance.”

Dpm 4

“Next time, invite VIPs to ride at 7am or 6pm on a working day.”
