The Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) has refuted claims by the public that it hasn’t taken any action against Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH), clarifying that the recent statement by Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Razarudin Husain that GISBH had never paid any taxes referred only to the latest assessment year.

In a statement, LHDN revealed that it had conducted over 60 audit reviews on GISBH and its associated companies and individuals for previous assessment years.

LHDN had imposed penalties on GISBH, its related companies and individuals

In fact, fines and penalties have been imposed on GISBH, related companies and individuals for past assessment years, and they have already paid the compounds and penalties imposed.

LHDN added that continuous monitoring of tax compliance by GISBH, related companies and individuals are carried out in the same manner as other taxpayers, with no special treatment given.

As for the taxes that were never paid by GISBH, its related companies and individuals, they were from the latest assessment year, and LHDN iterated that they’re cooperating with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to investigate the matter.

Furthermore, LHDN said that its cooperation with PDRM is meant to complete the investigation based on new information and findings related to the taxation issue for the latest assessment year.

Accordingly, prosecution actions and penalties under the Income Tax 1967 will be taken for any offences of the relevant legal provisions.

LHDN stressed that it is committed to combating tax non-compliance, ensuring fairness for all compliant taxpayers while avoiding leakage involving national revenue.
