The traffic police in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand faced unexpected backlash from the public recently after banning three food vendors from selling food at a road intersection in the province’s Muang district. The food vendors, all of which wear dinosaur costumes while selling food as part of a marketing gimmick to entertain people and boost sales.

As reported by Thai PBS World, the local traffic police posted on Facebook on 20 July 2022 saying that they have approached the costumed vendors and told them off for endangering motorists and themselves. The traffic police further shared that they have suggested for the food vendors to change what they were wearing.

Netizens then criticised the actions by the police, saying that the vendors did nothing wrong and that the police should pursue more pressing matters. There are also commenters that said the police should not be too zealous in enforcing traffic laws as the vendors are only trying to make a living during the present economic difficulties.

One of the food vendors himself said that he was just doing an honest job though he admitted that it was a bit risky. The vendor then asserted that he understands the actions by the police and heeded their warning.
