Temporary disruptions to MyKad printing services nationwide are expected starting today (1 September).
The National Registration Department (JPN) said the disruption is due to its ongoing transition from the existing MyKad structure to the New Generation MyKad.
First-time applicants advised to wait for New Generation MyKad
In a statement today, JPN advised those who do not have an urgent need to replace or renew their MyKad to hold off on their applications for the time being.
The department said MyKad printing services are expected to face temporary disruptions from today until 7 September.
Parents or guardians applying for their child’s first MyKad at age 12 are also encouraged to wait for a while, allowing them to receive the New Generation MyKad once issuance begins in the near future.
“As a result, MyKad printing services nationwide are expected to experience temporary disruptions from 1 September to 7 September 2026. Members of the public who do not have an urgent need to replace or renew their MyKad are advised to temporarily postpone their applications during this period,” the statement read.
JPN also thanked the public for their patience and cooperation throughout the transition to the new identity card structure, and apologised for any inconvenience caused.
