A video depicting alleged gangster activity in Bintulu, Sarawak, has gone viral online and caused unrest among the locals.

The Bistok Min Facebook page shared the video, which shows an alleged gangster using scissors to intimidate and injure a man. They also claimed that a Sarawak ADUN is “the protector” of the alleged gangster.

Following this, Tourism Minister and Bintulu MP, Tiong King Sing, urged the police to take stern action against the alleged gangster, who has since handed himself over to the authorities.

Taking to his Facebook page, he wrote, “A video has been going viral on social media, showing a violent attack of a gang member using scissors to harm another person. This shocking act of lawlessness has caused worry among the public, with many wondering if Bintulu is now controlled by criminal gangs.”

“I have been informed that the suspect has surrendered to the police. I urge the Bintulu District Police Chief, Supt Nixson, and his team to take firm action according to the law. There must be no leniency in such serious crimes, we must crack down on gang violence!”

He also took the opportunity to insist that gangsters leave Bintulu once and for all.

“This is the final warning! I do not want to see such violent acts happening again. I strongly advise those involved in gang activities to leave before it is too late. If you continue to break the law and cause trouble, you will have to face the consequences,”

“The actions of these gangs in Bintulu have become too extreme. If we do not take firm action now, they may feel that they can control the law and threaten public safety,” he added.

He ended his post by emphasising that he will stand firmly with the police to ensure strict enforcement to eradicate gang activity in Bintulu.
