Safety should always be our utmost priority. Most of the time, we believe that we’re lucky enough to be spared from bad experiences but we simply can’t foretell despite our safety measures because dangers are lurking anywhere and anytime.
Just recently, Malaysian news personality, Sky 刘湘灵 shared a terrifying incident that happened to her family during their visit to Krabi, Thailand. According to her Facebook post last night (September 17), it was only the 2nd day of their trip when things started to go south, especially after Sky’s younger brother noticed that they were being followed.
“We were strolling around the beach and my brother told me about a suspicious white car that has been around us.”
When they left the beach for the supermarket, the mysterious white car was still following them. After they drove away from the supermarket, Sky’s brother made a U-turn to see if the driver was going to follow them.
To their surprise, the driver in the white car did exactly the same and Sky’s brother immediately sped off.
“The worst thing about this part? Our broadband ran out of battery and we didn’t have any internet connection to contact anyone,” Sky said.
“If you have no evidence, then stay out of it”
Without much choice left, the family drove back to their homestay and parked their car in the alley but here’s another concern they had.
“Our family members were in the homestay. What if we brought the wolves to the slaughterhouse?”
Sky immediately contacted her uncle and brother-in-law. Along with Sky’s brother, the 3 men marched towards the white car, which was parked on the other side of the road. The 3 men confronted the 2 people in the car, who denied they were following the family, saying “they were only looking for their friends”.
In the meantime, Sky asked for help from the staff of the homestay but unfortunately, the PIC for the homestay was not happy with that and asked his underlings not to meddle in the case. 1 of the employees “called” for rescue before a big, fierce man reached the scene.
“I couldn’t understand what he was saying. He was loud, and he took the pictures of our car and our faces.”
Sky was told by the employee to not make any police report if the family didn’t have enough evidence, which would only bring more trouble.
“I didn’t have any solid evidence to prove that we had been followed since the beginning.”
After the family had a discussion, they decided to return the rented car and left the area to continue their trip. Fortunately, everyone made it home to Malaysia safely.
To those of you going for a vacation soon and regardless of your destination, be alert on your surroundings and if you can, make your way to the nearest police station immediately if you sense any danger.
