In a good example of effective precautionary measures, the Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin has decided to celebrate the fifth birthday of his son in self-isolation.

Khairy, also famously known as KJ, had posted a touching image accompanied by a heart-felt message on the 23rd of March 2020 on his official Instagram. The dedicated father’s post has captured over 94,000 likes on Instagram along with the hearts of many Malaysians.

“Happy 5th birthday, my little lion man.” He said affectionately, referring to his son.

“Because Papa has to go out for work, Papa has decided to self-isolate when coming home.” Khairy explained.  According to The Star, Khairy had stated that self-isolation was necessary due to the nature of his work as a minister, as he is required to work throughout the two weeks of the Movement Control Order (MCO).

“That’s to keep you and everyone else safe (especially grandma!),” Khairy added.

Khairy’s moving Instagram post received a lot of positive comments from other Instagram users. Many of them praised Khairy for setting a good example and wished him good health.

Khairy ended his post with an optimistic note, guaranteed to tug at your hearts.

“It makes Papa sad that I can’t hug you and kiss you today, and that we can only see each other through the window. When you grow up, I’ll tell you all about how everyone in the world had to play their part to help each other. Love you, my Raif,” Khairy added.

We hope everyone pratices social distancing during this critical period. There are various groups of people at the front lines combating Covid-19. We can help them out by exercising our social responsibility and adhering to the Movement Control Order (MCO).
