The Festival of Lights is a time of celebration, prosperity, and spreading kindness – and no one is proving that message more than one uncle living in Melaka.
In a TikTok posted by Malaysian user @vimal_rajasingam, Vimal shared a heart-warming moment between his father and an e-delivery rider.
During the 18-second clip, Vimal showed his father walking to the front gate of their house with a canned drink and red packet in his hands. Walking towards the rider, the uncle gives him the items before sending him on his way.
“Even though the Grab rider reached the wrong address (my house), my dad still offered him a drink and gave him a Deepavali ang pao. In the end, he said, ‘Embrace kindness and love on the festival’,” wrote Vimal in the caption of his video.
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Vimal revealed that the situation took place a few days ago in Taman Beryam Jaya, Melaka, during the Deepavali festivities.
Warming the hearts of Malaysians all across the nation and beyond, many people expressed how touched they were by the kind gesture made by the uncle in the TikTok clip.
“Our true Malaysian way,” wrote one user.
One of the comments made came from Vimal’s sister, Thiveyaa, who mentioned how she told her father that just an ang pao was enough, but he insisted to go the extra mile for the rider.
And out of all the comments, one of the most fruitful of the bunch came from a user who stated how this gesture is a true reflection of the Malaysian-Indian community.
