This is truly an outrageous act! Visiting a zoo can be a fun and educational activity but please, do only observe the animals there and not torture them.

This innocent 12-year-old female kangaroo was killed recently when some inconsiderate visitors to a zoo in the Fuzhou Zoo in Fujian, China threw bricks at her. The Sun Daily reported that they had tried to get a reaction from the animals and when the kangaroos did not respond, they found chunks of bricks to provoke them to run or jump. WTF is wrong with them?

The incident happened on February 28 but the kangaroo suffered for days before dying from a ruptured kidney caused by the bricks. The staff said that they had treated the kangaroo’s severely injured foot after she was hit but unfortunately they did not realise that she had internal injuries too.

They said that before her death, she was found to be limping around with a bloody foot and had to be treated with an intravenous drip. Poor thing! The staff at the zoo also discovered that another male kangaroo suffered the same injuries a few weeks later but luckily, his condition is now stable.

Apparently, this is not the first time such incidents have happened as Chinese tourists tend to want to see the kangaroos use their powerful hind legs. The zoo had tried to stop such an incident from happening by clearing away stones and rocks around the enclosure but these people would actually get stones from other places to throw at the kangaroos. Who’s the animal now?

The security cameras around the area also did not help much as it was aimed at the enclosure, not at the visitors so it was unclear who had performed that abhorrent act. However, the zoo said that they would install more cameras to deter visitors from injuring the innocent animals.

Fuzhou Zoo said that visitors would also harm the animals by simply feeding them food that they’re not meant to eat such as bread and cakes. This would cause their digestive systems to be messed up and hence, the animals would sometimes fall sick.

Stop mistreating these poor animals, people!
