The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) in Kajang, Selangor, recently received a report from 2 men who claimed to have found an abandoned baby in a box, who was still alive.

The duo reported the matter to the police at 1:56 AM on Monday (August 11), in which they claimed to have discovered the newborn near a gas station in Batu 14, Hulu Langat. The men also said that they had no idea who had abandoned the infant, and the baby was immediately sent to the hospital for observation.

It didn’t take long for the police to discover that the duo were far from innocent.

The baby belongs to one of the men who lodged a police report, a 39-year-old father who committed incest with his 16-year-old daughter until the victim gave birth.

Assistant Commissioner Naazron Bin Abdul Yusof, Chief Police of the Kajang district, said that both men were friends, and the father had planned to lodge a fake police report with his friend, a 29-year-old security guard. The so-called discovery of the abandoned baby was made up, and the duo were arrested by PDRM on Tuesday (August 12) around 5:35 PM.

The father worked as a deliveryman, and her 16-year-old daughter is a school dropout.

The daughter had been sent to the hospital for a check-up, and PDRM has remanded both men.

The matter is being investigated under Section 317 of the Penal Code for the exposure and abandonment of a child under the age of 12, and Section 376(3) of the Penal Code for raping a woman under the age of 16. For the first offence, suspects may face a jail term of not more than 7 years, and the second offence leads to a possible jail term of not more than 30 years, but not less than 8 years.

If found guilty, suspects may also get 10 strokes of the cane.

At the time of writing (August 14), PDRM is still investigating the matter, and in his statement, Naazron urges the public who has relevant information to assist with the investigation.
