Pejuang’s Mukhriz Mahathir has lost the Jerlun seat to PN’s Dr Abd Ghani Ahmad who scored 31,685 votes.
Mukhriz came last among the four candidates, securing a mere 3,144 votes.
The first runner-up is BN’s Othman Bin Aziz with 11,229 votes and the second runner-up is PH’s Dr Mohamed Fadzil Mohd Ali with just 6,149 votes.
Up north, Mukhriz’s father and veteran leader, Mahathir Mohammed also suffered a defeat in his Langkawi seat. It is the 97-year-old’s first election loss in 53 years.
