J&T Express Malaysia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT), marking a strategic collaboration to enhance campus logistics support while nurturing the next generation of logistics professionals.
This collaboration underscores J&T Express Malaysia’s commitment as a responsible corporate citizen, actively supporting local workforce development while fostering sustainable growth within the logistics sector in Southeast Asia.
By combining J&T Express Malaysia’s position as a leading courier service provider with TAR UMT’s role as a nationally accredited university with strong industry linkages, the partnership reflects a strong alignment between both parties in preparing future-ready talent for the logistics and supply chain sector.
Enhanced Campus Parcel Services and Practical Learning
The MoU signing also marked the opening of the YoYi! Collection Point on the TAR UMT campus, a digital smart collection facility designed to serve staff and students. In addition to parcel delivery services, the facility provides a secure system for parcel storage recording and collection tracking, enhancing convenience and efficiency in campus parcel services.
Beyond its service function, the smart collection point will serve as a practical learning platform, enabling students to gain hands-on exposure by observing logistics workflows and participating in real operational processes.
The MoU will see both parties collaborate on industrial placements, internships, industry visits, graduate employment opportunities, and joint projects to equip students with real-world industry exposure beyond the classroom.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Steve Yap, Public Relations Manager of J&T Express Malaysia, said the MoU represents more than a formal agreement.
“The logistics industry is evolving rapidly, driven by digitalisation, speed, and rising service expectations. Building a strong pipeline of local, industry-ready talent is critical to sustaining this growth,” he said.
“Through this partnership, we are not only supporting students’ career development, but also injecting fresh talent into the growth of Malaysia’s local logistics industry,” he added.
Meanwhile, Dr Chook Ka Joo, Vice President of TAR UMT, said the collaboration would bring meaningful benefits to the university community.
“The opening of the YoYi! Collection Point is a significant milestone for the campus. The working relationships developed following the signing of this MoU will greatly benefit both J&T Express and our students,” he said.
Both parties expressed confidence that the partnership will contribute to long-term talent development and logistics innovation, benefiting students, educators, and the logistics sector as a whole.
