Yesterday (23 September), the President of the Pakatan Harapan (PKR), Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, made many claims during his live press conference. Amongst those claims, he stated that he has a “strong, formidable, convincing majority” from the members of the parliament to form a new government.

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, the former Prime Minister, has made a stand to not partake in any political conflict that was sparked by the PKR President. During his talk at Nutanix’s ASEAN CIO Virtual Summit over Zoom, he was asked about the recent allegations made by the Port Dickson Member of Parliament.

According to The Edge Singapore, Dr Mahathir responded by saying that is “not the first time” Anwar has made these claims. He continued his response by saying that similar announcements and claims were made back in September 2008.

“We will have to wait to see if this is another episode of making claims that cannot be substantiated.”

The subject matter of the live conference that the MP of Langkawi participated in was ‘Disruptor or Disrupted?’ and he also made a claim that during the coalition of the new government, he was unaware of the situation and didn’t intend to resign his position from being Malaysia’s Prime Minister.

“I didn’t want to resign as PM, but when my party pulled out from the coalition, I ceased to be the Prime Minister. So these things happen without me initiating anything by my own.”

He further continued that he was unable to finish his term and couldn’t implement any of his rehabilitation proposals. This is the constant problem that he faces and he’s disrupted by the fact that he was unable to change Malaysia for the better.

“I also disrupt a lot of people. I want to change things. Things were not going well in Malaysia for some time because we have a problem with a leader who has not really focused on the work he has to do so we had to move him out.”

He also added that it will take time to rectify all the past mistakes but it should be done with cautious as to not repeat the same history.
