For many people, receiving bonus money from their employer is an opportunity to relieve themselves of debts and to make necessary payments for the future. So, how would you feel if you found out that your partner had gambled away a large bonus that he had received?
Well, that’s the exact scenario an Indonesian wife, who is also a policewoman, had to deal with and let’s just say, she saw red.
According to a report by CNN Indonesia, the policewoman burned her husband, who is also a police officer, to death after finding out that he had gambled away his 13-month bonus worth 2.8 million Rupiah (RM810.78).
The husband had a history with online gambling and had previous wasted away his family’s money
When the husband received his 13-month bonus, the policewoman had planned to use the money to buy supplies for their 3-month-old twins. They also have a 2-year-old child together.
Upon finding out that the money was almost all gone, the policewoman had filled up an empty bottle with petrol, brought it back to their police dormitory, took a picture of the bottle and sent it to her husband with a message telling him that she would burn their children. She then sent her children away with their nanny.
When he got home, she asked him where the money had gone, to which he admitted to spending it on online gambling.
They argued before she handcuffed the husband to a ladder and burned him alive.
His screams of pain attracted their neighbours who helped him by putting out the fire and calling for an ambulance.
Though, the husband ultimately succumbed to his injuries across 96% of his body, while he was at a hospital for treatment.
The policewoman was subsequently arrested over the incident.
