After soldiering through Ramadhan, Raya is undeniably an exciting moment not just for the feasting of good food but also for bonding time with family. Unfortunately, not everyone has the same luxury, especially those who are grieving from a death in the family.

48-year-old mother, Aslina from Malacca lost her 19-year-old son to an accident right before Raya. The motorcycle her son rode collided with a car and he died at the scene. The pain is undescribable for Aslina because she is still grieving from the death of her son 2 years back, who, coincidentally, ALSO passed away before Raya.

Aslina lost both her sons (both of whom passed away at 19 years old) and Raya is probably something she will never be excited for anymore.

“I’m done with Aidilfitri”

In a time when people are gathering for a good time, Aslina has chosen to put Aidilfitri behind for good. The traumatic experiences were too much for her.

In an interview with the media, Aslina said she felt as if her sons “made a pact” to be together dead or alive.

“Raya is traumatic for me. I lost both of them on Raya Eve on different years, so I’m not going to celebrate Raya anymore.”

Aslina admits that while she has accepted fate, grieving is not an easy process and it’s not as easy as “to be patient”, as told by everyone around her.

“People tell me to be patient, but only God knows how painful my heart is as a mother.”

The woman lamented at her fate, asking why is she suffering the same fate every Raya in different years. Aslina also told the media that she wants justice for her sons because the accidents were not their fault.

“I’m not vengeful but please be fair to my sons who died. It’s not that I’m not accepting fate but I just want justice for them.”

Our condolences and prayers go to Aslina and the family.
