An Indonesian labourer was sentenced to six months in jail for molesting a 23-year-old nurse at a hospital in Kuching, Sarawak.

According to The Borneo Post, the 23-year-old nurse was treating the man for leptospirosis, a kind of blood infection, on 9 August 2020.

The 52-year-old man identified as Kusno touched the nurse’s private part and uttered the words “I want this” while she was preparing the treatment for him.

He then did it again when the nurse questioned him, which sent the nurse fleeing to her colleagues for help.

Kusno was arrested on 18 August and had initially pleaded not guilty when appearing in court last year (2020).

On 27 January 2021, Kusno pleaded guilty to the charge before Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali who convicted him under Section 354 of the Penal Code which states that,

“Whoever assaults or uses criminal force to any person, intending to outrage or knowing it to be likely that he will thereby outrage the modesty of that person, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 10 years or with fine or with whipping or with any two of such punishments.”
