While there are no Raya bonuses for civil servants this year, those who are in the private sector might still have some luck, depending on their employers.
Malaysian businessman, Sunny Seow recently granted his 2 Malay employees 2 months of bonuses and gave them 1 week of Raya holiday. Back in December 2023, Sunny went viral after saving a Mak Cik Nasi Lemak from closing down her stall, receiving praise from Malaysians for his generosity in paying her 1-year outstanding rent.
Sunny said that he wanted to give out the Raya bonuses as early as possible to allow the Malay employees to shop for the coming festive season, according to his FB post.
Sunny watched them grew
As an employer, it’s a blessing to have loyal employees working hard for you, making sure everything in the business runs effectively. According to Sunny, the 2 Malay employees, who were brothers have been working with him for 12 long years.
They started working for Sunny with a mere RM900 monthly salary and today, they’re making RM5,000 a month. Not only that but Sunny also shared how many changes he had seen in the brothers.
“They started working for me when they were only 16. I even bought a house and a car for them. Now, one of them is married with 2 kids. I changed a family’s life by bringing them out of poverty.”
Sunny, who runs a Tau Foo Fa business said that he also granted CNY bonuses to his Chinese employees earlier. As for his Malay employees, Sunny had nothing but gratitude words for their hard work and loyalty.
“I thank them for their loyalty throughout these 12 years. They don’t make that much, but they’re still surviving. Good luck!”
To those in the private sector, any luck with your Raya bonuses this year? And to our Muslim friends, how are your Raya preparations going so far?
