Recently, a Foodpanda rider, known as Muhamad Shabri, went out of his way beyond what was required of him to ensure that a lost parcel was delivered to its rightful owner. Nur Farah Ayu took to Facebook last week to share the heartwarming story of how the caring food delivery rider sent the missing package right to her doorstep.

“The Foodpanda rider called and delivered the item right to my doorstep. He’s such a good person, may he be blessed,” said the netizen in a Bentong residents’ Facebook group. Farah said she tried to reward him with money as a token of appreciation but the humble rider refused to take anything from her.

In fact, Shabri said he did not expect to go viral and was worried that the fame garnered by the post would potentially jeopardise the reputation of the courier company. “I wanted to help sincerely, no ulterior motives, just to deliver the item,” said the genuine rider to Mstar.

The netizen updated her post, later on, to clarify that the courier service rider who accidentally dropped her parcel contacted her to apologise for the oversight.

Shabri said he came across the missing parcel when he was out and about fulfilling orders. He noticed the receiver’s address and realised the delivery wasn’t that far from his work’s headquarters so he figured he might as well deliver the package as the courier company’s office was located much further away.

However, when he reached Farah’s house, no one was home. Hence, he left her a message on her phone.

I informed her to return my call within an hour or I’ll hand the item back to the courier company because I didn’t want to hold on to someone else’s item for too long. She rang me back not too long after and asked me to redeliver the item to her house,” added the 42-year-old rider.

Shabri said he knew what it felt like to be on the waiting end of an expected parcel so he did what he did out of goodwill, not for the reward or recognition.

“Maybe she felt bad because I went back and forth but my intention was sincere. I’ve ordered things online and I know the feeling of waiting anxiously for the items to arrive so I put myself in her shoes,” said the caring food delivery man, who is also a father of four children.

The post has since gone viral with over 1,200 reactions and netizens flooding the comment section with praises for the honest rider’s kind actions.

Kudos to Shabri for going above and beyond to deliver this package. It’s small acts like these that make an everyday hero.
