On Eid al-Adha, commonly known as Raya Haji here, cows or sheep are sacrificed to honor the willingness of Abraham to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God’s command.
In some countries, camels are sometimes chosen as the sacrifice. A man in Papua, Indonesia, however, mistakenly brought a pig to the mosque in his area to sacrifice. As you may have guessed, the man also brought a major shock to the people around there, especially the mosque preacher.
According to a viral TikTok video, the man didn’t do it intentionally.
He had just embraced Islam and wasn’t sure of the rules and regulations behind Eid al-Adha and Islam in general, hence the pig as the sacrifice.
Fortunately, the preacher and others at the mosque were not angry at the man who was still learning about the religion. They reminded him that pigs are Haram and Islam and Muslims are forbidden from eating pork.
The man’s act of kindness went viral for the wrong reasons, but fortunately, he barely received criticism from the people around him and social media users.
“He means well”
In fact, he was praised for his effort and willingness to participate in the Eid al-Adha ritual as a new member of the Muslim community.
“Hopefully, his good intentions will be remembered.”
One user commented, “He has a pure heart. Guide him until he understands the religion well.”
“From here, we can see his sincerity. He just wanted to do good deeds,” said a user.

There’s a fine line between ignorance and not knowing. In this case, the man genuinely didn’t know anything, and we hope that, in time, he will receive proper guidance about his religion.
