Following the recent flood that wrecked several states across Malaysia, many families have lost their homes and are left stranded.
However, thousands of Malaysian’s have joined hands by extending their assistance – regardless of religion or race.
Local Gurdwara in Selangor, Gurdwara Sahib Petaling Jaya too participated in extending their assistance in helping with flood relief work.
Pictures of the Sikh community, together with volunteers of various races working together to cook, prepare and serve Langgar (free meals) for the victims have been going viral on social media, garnering much attention.
According to their Facebook page, the GSPJ Food Bank has been distributing hot meals, relations and family care packages too. They have also requested volunteers to not only help with preparing food but also to pack and load food and items to be delivered to the victims.
The food that has been prepared is all vegetarian and halal, and will be delivered in bulk to the areas that require assistance.
Most touching gesture ever!
One of the most touching gestures done by the Sikh community was going the extra mile to prepare special rooms for Muslims to pray (ruang solat).
They took to their Facebook page to inform their Muslim friends of the prayer room.
“Dear Muslim friends who want to perform Solat, a room has been provided on the 1st Floor, Gurdwara Sahib Petaling Jaya, specially for you.”
“Perfect example of what MALAYSIANS should be”
Gurdwara Sahib PJ’s post garnered over 2.3 shares, 3.3k likes and 400 comments, all of which netizens praised them and volunteers for their efforts as well as going the extra mile to prepare prayer rooms for Muslim friends.
Many Muslims too took to the comment section to thank them and express their gratitude.
