The plane crash which happened at Elmina, Shah Alam claimed multiple lives, one of them being an e-hailing driver under Grab Malaysia.
Following news of his death, Grab Malaysia has since released a statement stating that they will be providing assistance to the family of its driver-partner Sharipuddin Shaari, who died in the plane crash.
This includes payout from Grab Partners’ zakat wakalah fund and contributions from Grab Malaysia and the driver-partners community.
“Our team has reached out to Sharipuddin’s family to provide the necessary support. Sharipuddin was a hardworking individual, and it deeply saddens us that this unfortunate incident occurred while he was earnestly working to earn a living.”
“We can feel the sadness that everyone is going through right now. We pray for the family of the deceased and the families of other victims involved in the tragic accident in Elmina,” they added in the statement.
In the meantime, Grab urges the public not to share the victim’s personal information on social media to respect the family’s privacy and the ongoing investigation.
Earlier, the Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain was reported to have said that the Grab driver who died in the crash was suspected to be alone in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
It was also reported that the Grab driver had not picked up any passengers since 2 pm before the plane crashed.
