Previously, Google removed its currency converter widget for the Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) after users noticed that the rates shown were inaccurate compared to the actual exchange rates.
The issue stirred up quite a bit of backlash, even prompting Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil to step in.

For illustration purposes only
“I was informed that the widget will be restored soon”
According to BERNAMA, Fahmi said he personally reached out to Google to get the issue sorted, and mentioned that the MYR exchange feature would be back once Google completed its internal processes.
He also reminded everyone not to jump to conclusions or spread baseless claims that Google’s move was influenced by any specific party.
The widget is up and running!
In recent news, the currency converter widget has unexpectedly made a comeback, and it seems to be working fine again, as of today.
According to Amanz, previously, users could search for a currency conversion, but they’d still have to visit third-party sites to get the actual value.
But now, Google’s quick converter shows up right on the search page, so users no longer need to click around just to check the exchange rate.
Clicking the “More about USD/MYR” button brings you straight to Google Finance, confirming that this is Google’s own tool and not something powered by a third-party system.
Whether this is a “glitch” on Google’s end or if it’s officially back for good, it’s a feature we’ve been wanting to return for a long time!
