Let’s be honest, the normal face masks that we use are expensive and also not really sustainable.

To combat that, The Batik Boutique has come up with a Batik mask collection that is 100% hand-painted.

Each mask is made from 2 layers of 100% cotton batik fabric with an envelope slit at the bottom if you want to add an extra filter. For maximum comfort, the elastic bands for the ears are replaced wit longer and more comfortable ones for the heads. They are also available in children sizes as well and one pack contains two masks. The best thing is that it only costs RM60 for two!

It might seem like quite a lot of money right now to pay for a mask, but in the long run, it will be worth it if you do the calculations. The reusable mask should be washed on a regular basis and they are all machine-washable. Since it is made of 100% cotton, it reduces your risk of developing maskne (acne due mask usage).

They also offer a gift set including the mask if you want to send over a care package to a friend or a loved one. The gift set features a batik face mask, a tote bag and also an Asli.co hand sanitiser. That’s the holy trinity for a grocery run! The masks will be batik-patterned while the tote bags will be in a super cute nasi lemak-patterned fabric. The set is priced at RM119.

Amy Blair, CEO and Founder of Batik Boutique said,

“Our products are handmade by local artisans. These authentic batik pieces are rich in Malaysian heritage, each purchase supports artisans and creates social impact.

“We feel truly honoured and proud to share a piece of Malaysian heritage with the world.”

Nasi Lemak Totes

During the MCO, Batik Boutique supported local artisans by giving them job opportunities and fair wages as the production allows women in the B40 category to earn a sustainable source of income during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Additionally, Batik Boutique is giving back to society by donating 2,000 fabric face masks to low-income housing areas and refugees in Malaysia.

Those are definitely some pretty cute masks and tote bags. After looking at all the photos, we’re truly considering getting a few face masks for ourselves!
