Health Minsiter Khairy Jamaluddin has announced that all foreign tourists entering Malaysia will no longer need to complete the traveller’s card feature in MySejahtera beginning 1 August 2022. The decision was made after taking into account our country’s health system that is now at a good and controlled level.

According to national news agency Bernama, Khairy also asserted that the decision aims to facilitate the entry procedures of travellers into the country. In a statement today, the Health Minister stressed that his ministry will constantly intensify symptom monitoring activities among travellers at all international entry points in our country.

Allaying any fears that the public may have, Khairy asserted,

“During arrival at PMA, if a traveller is detected with a fever through a thermal scanner or is found to be unwell, they will be referred for re-examination by the health department,”

Moreover, after the health assessment is made and the tourist is suspected of having an infectious diseases such as Covid-19, monkeypox or others, they will be referred to a nearby health facility for examination and further treatment if necessary. Khairy also urged for all travellers that have arrived from overseas to practice self-monitoring and comply with the prescribed SOPs. If unwell, they should go for an examination at the nearest health facility.
