First it was former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, now another former Prime Minister has diarrhoea.

Datuk Seri Najib Razak has diarrhoea, causing him to not be able to attend his 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) fund embezzlement hearing yesterday (May 9).

According to a report by Berita Harian, he had to be referred to a specialist at Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) over his sickness, which has been confirmed by the Medical Officer of the Kajang Prison Health Clinic, Dr Mohd Hafiz Mohd Hoshni, who was called in to court to explain Najib’s condition.

Dr Mohd Hafiz shared that he was informed by the assistant medical officer, at 7:15am on May 9, that Najib was unwell and suffering from diarrhoea. He then met Najib, who complained of a stomach ache, nausea and had gone to the toilet 4 times to defecate.

“Then, I gave medicine to Datuk Seri, however after 10 minutes, his condition still did not change. I did an examination and found that he also suffered from lack of water and a slight fever with a temperature of 37.8 Celsius. I referred Datuk Seri to a specialist at HKL and he was taken there at 9:30am.”

“At that time, he looked tired, lethargic and lacked water. The specialist at HKL gave him sick leave for 2 days, he was not fit to attend the trial in court because he had to be given ‘drips’ which was inserted into the blood drain and was unable to stand because he had been sitting for too long,” Dr Mohd Hafiz said.

The proceedings will continue this Thursday (May 11).

69-year-old Najib is facing 4 charges of using his position to obtain bribes amounting to RM2.3 billion in 1MDB funds and 21 charges of money laundering involving the same amount.
