Former Singaporean actor Ian Fang was recently convicted of sexual offences against a 15-year-old girl, in which he had intercourse with the latter multiple times, and was sentenced to 40 months of jail time.

Ian, however, is going to jail slightly later as the court has granted a 4-week deferment to the former actor, who said he had to settle “personal and professional affairs.”

Despite the approval, the court increased his bail by SGD10,000, and his bail is now set to SGD30,000 (approximately RM99,300).

Ian was spotted leaving the court yesterday around 3:45 PM after making the deferment request and ignoring the media who requested comments. Ian fled from the media and met with someone who was waiting for him, according to Shin Ming Daily News.

Fang was charged in January 2025, and a gag order was initially imposed at the time to protect the identity of the 15-year-old victim, which also meant Fang’s name could not be published. However, during sentencing, the prosecution applied to lift the gag order on Fang’s identity, stating it was necessary for transparency and public interest.

The sexual intercourse with the minor took place in multiple locations, including in a hospital room when the girl was admitted. Ian also did not use safety measures during intercourse, unless insisted upon by the minor. Other locations included Ian’s private residence and a luxury hotel room.

Ian also allegedly told the minor to cry in front of her mother in an attempt to persuade the family to withdraw the charges. Ian is expected to serve his 40-month jail term starting June 16, 2025.
