Former Singaporean actor Ian Fang has been sentenced to 40 months in jail for multiple sexual offences against a 15-year-old girl.
Sin Chew reported that Ian pleaded guilty to sexual offences against a minor, and his identity was made public today (May 19) after a gag order was lifted. He pleaded guilty to three charges of sexual penetration of a girl. Three similar charges were also taken into consideration for sentencing, along with one count of obstructing justice and one count of stalking.
Ian would call the victim 18 times a day.
Between June and July 2024, Fang had sex with the teen on nine occasions, and on five of those times, Ian did not use a condom. He only resorted to taking safety precautions when the girl insisted.
This included the time when the teen was hospitalised and placed in a private room for a flu infection, where Ian would wait until midnight and have sex with her in the hospital room.
The girl was later diagnosed with the human papillomavirus, a sexually transmitted disease. The girl’s mother made a police report in August after speaking to the teen and learning that the duo had been having sexual relations. She sought treatment from the doctor after experiencing pain in her genitals, reported The Straits Times.
In sentencing Fang, the judge said,
“As a 34-year-old adult man, he knew what he was doing. He knew what was likely to take place each time he visited the victim.”
“It was not a one-off event. He had taken advantage of an emotional vulnerability.”
The girl was depressed and had suicidal thoughts, but according to Channel News Asia, the victim is now emotionally stronger and is willing to bear the risk of being identified.
