Recently an Italian artist, Maurizio Cattelan, produced an art piece that left us with mixed feelings.
This little art installation, entitled “Comedian (2019)” was actually sold for a whopping USD120,000 (RM499,620).
Yes, you read that right. As long as you’re an artist, you can just tape anything to a wall and call it art. LOL.
The commotion turned into a riot when an unrelated performance artist, David Datuna, casually ate the banana right off the wall.
He did so while announcing that it was an art performance, entitled “Hungry Artist”.
However, this version of notorious taped art is guaranteed to ward off any Westerners from eating it.
99 Old Trees is a makeshift cafe in Singapore that serves mostly high-grade durians straight from Pahang’s Fook Gor Durian Farm.
Although they admitted that their prices are “ultra-competitive”, all it took was a roll of duct tape to make sure no one can ever compete with them.

Their asking price? A whopping RM 498,927! Quite the catch don’t you think? Considering that they’ll absorb the GST as well.
With the tagline “Look like art, smells like fart”, people are actually hyped about seeing this particular art installation.
Some even offered to become the cafe’s ‘art performer’.
