Ask any pregnant woman and they’ll be able to tell you how weird their cravings can get during this period. It can range from normal cravings for chocolates to downright weird combos like pickles and ice cream. What weird cravings have you heard of?
For this woman in Bintangor, Sarawak, she really, really wanted to eat some golden threadfin bream to satisfy her pregnancy cravings but unfortunately, she could not afford to buy it. Her husband, who couldn’t bear to see his wife like that, decided to try and get some for her, Oriental Daily reported.
As he did not have enough money to buy some for her, he resorted to stealing some from a supermarket located at Jalan Riam on September 2 at around 3.55pm. He took five pieces of fish, amounting to RM63.89 so that his wife could cook it and satisfy her cravings.
However, before he could get the fish back to his heavily pregnant wife, he was arrested for shoplifting. He was investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code, where he could be jailed for up to 10 years and given a fine, if found guilty.
On September 5, the doting husband was brought to court where he pleaded guilty to the charges read out to him. He pleaded for leniency during sentencing and said that he only did so because he wanted to help his wife fulfil her pregnancy cravings. He said that he only stole because he could not afford to pay for the fish and made a mistake.
Taking this into consideration, the judge sentenced him to only two days in jail.
